What I'm up to

(A Now Page, last updated June 2025)

This website

I've felt inspired to finally work on building out my personal portfolio website. I've been meaning to do this for a while, but haven't had the time or inspiration to sit down and focus on it.

When I was recently caught in mass layoffs, I felt more motivated to get this done. Even though I've already found new employment, I'd still like to spend time to dedicate to this website to showcase my projects and to have a place to post my thoughts that isn't social media.

Jiu Jitsu

A few months ago, I started training Jiu Jitsu at a local gym. I've been enjoying it more and more, and I've been going to the gym more consistently. This has been a great way for me to stay in shape, build confidence, and to learn a new skill. Going to a regular gym previously has always felt like a chore, but jiu jitsu has been more enjoyable which helps keep me motivated and even excited to go.

Next month will be my first chance rank review and I'm excited to see if I can get my first stripe.

Game Dev

I've been working on a few game projects in my free time with a group of friends. We're using godot engine and playing around with a few different game ideas. I will post more updates on this soon!

Theology Studies

After doing Exodus 90 earlier this year, I've been spending more time reading theology books. I just finished reading Thomas Aquinas: Selected Commentaries on the Old Testament (Word on Fire Bookstore) and now I am doing a dive into Scott Hahns books about the Eucharist.

Typing the Bible

To help keep my typing skills sharp, and to help me learn the Bible better, I've been typing the Bible out in my Obsidian vault. It's been a great way to help cement the Scriptures in my mind. So far I've typed out the entire New Testament and I'm currently working on the Old Testament. I've gotten through the Pentateuch and I'm currently working on the Historical Books. I've been using the NRSV translation.
